Speeches
Laurie spends much of his time in the House of Commons speaking to the issues that matter to Canadians and Edmontonians. As well, Laurie will often have speaking engagements in the riding when on break weeks from parliament. On this page you can find many of Laurie's speeches, questions, and statements.
Speeches are generally 8-10 minutes long and are followed by questions and comments from other Members of Parliament. Statements are generally a minute long and are on a specific topic, like Afghanistan. Questions take place during Question Period, and allow members to ask government ministers the policy and actions of the government. This is also the time where the Opposition can keep the Government to account.
